I'm super excited to announce that I submitted a news package to the first ever White House film festival! The topic was on how technology has impacted schools and learning. I decided to focus on a flipped classroom. My math teacher makes self guided notes videos and our homework is to learn the lesson at home. So I interviewed my math teacher and I think it was a really successful interview. I got a lot of good sound bytes. I waiting until last minute to get B-Roll, which was a mistake. I didn't have enough, but I made do with what I had. I'm actually going to be modifying the package I submitted to the White House and improve it for my actual project. Overall, I think it was a good learning experience. I stayed for 3 hours after school to finish it, but I think it was worth it!!
My December project was a little different than usual. As the semester came to an end, we got the opportunity to make a short package for HEC-TV. Our final was gathering the media needed to make this package. I chose to focus on how dogs see the world. I had a cool idea of showing side by side videos, but color-correcting one to look like a dog's vision. It didn't work out that way so I got some gopro clips literally from a dogs point of view. Tim Gore, from HEC-TV, gave me some footage from a go pro he attached to his dogs collar. It was perfect! I color corrected it to match how dogs see and I was really proud of that. I didn't have an interview, so every sound bite was either a voice over, or music. It was a little different and I didn't feel as confident, but I think it turned out okay and they are using it! I'm really excited to have one of my videos in their show. |
